The Black and Bold Teens of the Katy Prairie View Chapter exuded compassion and respect for mankind on October 7, 2012 at The Beacon. The Beacon is a day center that provides hot meals, clothing, private showers, laundry services, and case management to homeless men, women, and children in the Houston area. The teens assisted with providing hot meals, washing dishes, cleaning tables, and sweeping floors. They also sorted and folded clothes, took the trash out, and cleaned the walls. The teens modeled leadership by taking charge and giving back to the community which ties perfectly with Jack & Jill of America, Inc.’s national theme of “Power & Potential: Parents Empowering Youth through Leadership Development, Cultural Heritage, and Community Service”. The teens upheld The Beacon’s mission by respecting the human dignity of the poor and assisting to improve their lives. Our Black and Bold Teens are continuously shining in the area of community service. Teens, Christian Benjamin & Deon Smith received “The President’s Award” for community service. Kudos B&B!!
